Transport Fever 3 Mission 2

Quick Answer

Follow the construction deliveries, complete the Brig–Milan railway and run passenger services before the medal deadline. Check current task counters separately from total construction requirements.

Complete Transport Fever 3 Mission 2 by supplying the Simplon tunnel construction, creating the passing arrangements needed by construction and passenger trains, removing the excavated stone, electrifying the required railway and carrying 300 passengers through the completed tunnel. The higher-star conditions require the passenger target before 1924 or before 1923, so pause during planning and construction instead of allowing the calendar to advance through menu work.

The optional medal asks you to bring skiers to Zermatt. That requires a working passenger branch from Brig, not just track laid toward the village. Keep the main passenger objective visible while completing the branch, because a functioning side project does not replace the tunnel transport target or extend its deadline.

Set the Deadline Before Starting the Work

Alpine Crossing expands the railway through the Simplon Pass and improves the service between Brig and Milan. Existing passenger traffic must continue while construction vehicles share parts of the route. Your job is to manage that overlap until the new tunnel capacity becomes available.

The results use the same basic passenger target with different deadlines:

ResultRequired tunnel transport
One starTransport 300 passengers through the tunnel
Two starsTransport 300 passengers through the tunnel before 1924
Three starsTransport 300 passengers through the tunnel before 1923
MedalBring the skiers to Zermatt

Pause before inspecting stations, editing trains or drawing infrastructure. Resume when a delivery or passenger movement needs to happen. Fast-forwarding accelerates the calendar as well as the vehicles, so use it after confirming that the next movement can actually complete.

Keep separate expectations for construction progress and passenger progress. Supplying the work site advances the tunnel project; the final transport count needs passenger trains using the finished connection. A busy construction service alone cannot satisfy the passenger requirement.

Inspect Brig and Extend the Existing Passenger Train

The opening task asks you to inspect the station in Brig and its terminal measurements. Look at the waiting and unhappy passengers before modifying the train, so you can see the capacity problem that the tutorial is addressing.

The existing locomotive can handle additional passenger cars. Add the two requested carriages through the train modification action and apply the change. Verify the completed consist rather than leaving the added cars only in the edit preview.

This is the temporary passenger-capacity improvement while construction gets underway. Keep that train operating on its existing passenger service. Do not move it to a construction line simply because another train-related task appears next.

The passenger train and the later machine-delivery train share track near Domodossola and the tunnel site. That shared use creates the need for passing infrastructure. Anticipate the overlap, but let the scenario's highlighted construction tasks guide the allowed work instead of trying to rebuild the entire Alpine railway at the opening stage.

Create the Road Delivery for Tunnel Support Wood

The first construction supply is wood for tunnel support beams. The mission asks for a vehicle depot near the logging camp and a transport route to the tunnel construction site.

Build the road depot, create the logging-camp-to-construction-site line and buy a truck compatible with the requested wood. In the vehicle store, inspect the selected vehicle's supported cargo rather than assuming that every cargo filter will reveal the same set of available models.

Assign the truck to the new road line and watch its first trip. It should collect the wood at the logging camp, drive to the work site and deliver it. The construction site is the receiving end of this line; an unrelated town stop does not substitute for the mission's actual site.

Let the active task's delivery counter determine completion. The construction site can display a larger total material demand than the immediate tutorial milestone. Do not confuse the site's overall requirements with the smaller amount needed to trigger the next instruction. Follow the current objective rather than trying to fill every visible requirement before continuing.

Supply Machines with a Cargo Train

The next task requests machines. Purchase a cargo train using wagons that support machines, then create the rail service from the supplying station to the tunnel construction site.

Use the existing rail access and inspect the line preview before assignment. Make sure that the source and destination are in the correct order. The machine train supplies the work site; it is not removing material from the site or carrying passengers through it.

Assign the cargo train and allow it to collect its load. The train may carry more machines than the current task needs, depending on the consist you chose. That does not change the required task amount. Watch the delivery progress rather than using the size of the train as evidence that construction has advanced.

At this stage, the passenger and machine trains both need to use the shared railway. If one stops behind the other, inspect the passing arrangement requested by the next task. Purchasing another machine train before repairing the shared-track layout can add another vehicle to the same waiting problem.

Connect the Existing Two-Track Spiral as a Siding

The railway above Domodossola includes a circular ascent section that already has two tracks. The mission uses this existing structure as a passing location. Connect the appropriate track ends with switches before and after it, then place the requested signals so the trains can move through the arrangement.

This construction lets the machine-delivery service and the existing passenger service share the route more effectively. Follow the scenario's indicated sides and directions when placing signals. A signal facing the wrong way can leave the intended path unavailable even when the track connections look complete.

Inspect one train moving through the siding, then the opposing movement. Seeing the first train leave a station does not prove that the second train can pass it. Both directions need to continue through the connected route.

If construction is disallowed outside the requested area, work within the available alignment. The existing two-track ascent is the intended resource at this stage. An extra crossing placed in a different area may not count toward the task and can create further path choices that complicate diagnosis.

Remove Stone from the Tunnel Construction Site

Once the supply work advances, the scenario asks you to handle excavated debris. The mine dump beyond Gravellona lacks the cargo station needed for rail delivery, so first build the approved 120-meter freight station beside it.

Connect that station to the railway using the available junction south of Domodossola. Purchase a train with wagons suitable for stone, then set up the line from the tunnel construction site to the mine dump.

The direction is important: stone leaves the construction site and goes to the dump. The dump is not a quarry supplying the tunnel. Inspect the site's output and the receiving end before assigning the train, because reversing this relationship produces a route that cannot complete the task.

When instructed, clone the stone train to add the requested capacity. Check that the clone can reach the line from its depot. Keep the freight movements separate from the passenger service in the line manager so you can identify which train is waiting and which delivery counter should be advancing.

Complete the Signals South of Domodossola

The mission then requests three signals at the siding south of Domodossola and three in the opposite direction. Place them according to the active instruction instead of assuming that signals from an earlier improvised layout satisfy the task.

Use the line preview and train movement to check the resulting directions. Where the intended arrangement uses separate tracks for opposing movements, the signals need to preserve that arrangement. A train waiting for a free path can be caused by an occupied section, a missing connection or a direction restriction; inspect the relevant path before repeatedly adding more signals.

Avoid deleting track while trying to remove a signal. Zoom in, select the intended object and check what the bulldozer highlights. If a track segment is removed accidentally, restore the physical connection before testing train behavior again.

Once the requested signaling task advances, watch the stone and passenger services pass through the area. Your goal is to make the construction traffic clear the passenger route, not merely to increase the number of signals displayed on the map.

Electrify the Required Route and Replace the Passenger Train

The railway upgrade introduces the electric Crocodile locomotive. Electrify the requested connection from Brig to Domodossola, including the relevant sections through the ascending route, then replace the passenger train with the requested electric service.

An electric locomotive needs a continuous electrified path. Inspect station approaches, connecting track and depot access as well as the long visible main-line sections. A short unelectrified piece can prevent the train from reaching an otherwise upgraded route.

After replacement, check the passenger consist and its line assignment. The new locomotive improves the intended service only when it can leave its location, reach the passenger stations and continue through the required connection.

If the game reports no electric path, trace the vehicle's route from its current position to the first stop. Correct that route rather than electrifying unrelated tracks elsewhere on the map. Repeat the check after adding any new passenger branch that you intend an electric locomotive to use.

Build the Brig-to-Zermatt Skier Connection

The bonus task asks for a passenger railway from Brig to Zermatt and its first passengers. Build a passenger station at Zermatt, connect it to the Brig railway, create the branch line and provide a passenger train.

Choose the locomotive according to the infrastructure you have built. If you purchase an electric train, electrify the branch and all required access before expecting it to depart. A track connection without electricity is not sufficient for that locomotive.

Inspect whether the line actually serves both passenger stations and whether passengers begin using it. A station, track and purchased train are prerequisites, but the medal task needs the transport result. Wait for the task to update before treating the skier connection as complete.

Keep this branch operational without allowing its construction to consume uncontrolled calendar time. Pause while designing it, then monitor the main tunnel objective when resuming. The optional connection and the three-star deadline compete for your attention even though both can belong to the same mission attempt.

Clear Construction Traffic and Finish the Passenger Count

When the tunnel is complete, the scenario releases the work site and opens the new track capacity. Retire the construction services as directed so they no longer occupy the route used by passengers. Remove the finished work lines carefully, keeping the main passenger service and any skier branch intact.

Now inspect passenger capacity and movement through the completed tunnel. Additional passenger trains can help only if they can circulate without waiting behind a path problem. Check the tunnel approaches, passing sections and station departures before purchasing a larger fleet.

Observe the mission's passenger counter as trains use the tunnel. That counter is the result being measured; station waiting totals or seats purchased do not replace it. If the deadline is approaching and the count is not rising, follow an actual passenger train through the relevant segment and correct the obstacle it encounters.

When the mission completes, check the date condition, stars and skier medal separately. If you reach 300 passengers after the three-star deadline, improving the finished network cannot change the date of that earlier result. Replay with paused construction, earlier capacity improvements and corrected signal directions to give the required transport more time to happen.
